A beautiful future - the Mercedes SLR Vision Concept

A glimpse into what the motoring world could become.

2y ago

In the motoring world 'SLR' stands for Sport Light Racing. It's important to note this because the last 5.4-Litre supercharged V8 beast branded with the SLR badge is widely regarded as one of the most capable Grand Tourers of our time and a technological benchmark for other car makers; even though really it was too heavy to live up to its SLR name.

Invisive Design Studio has now taken the Vision SLR and slapped it with a bit of mordernisation, and really the results are rather gorgeous to look at.

Using Mercedes-Benz cars of today for inspiration, incorporating their own flare and adding a dash of interpretation Invisive said the Vision SLR Concept is "the perfect blend of sporty and luxurious".

Now, looking at the direction in which today's cars are going it wouldn't be totally outrageous to think that the Vision SLR would be all electric. With that in mind, do you remember the drag race on The Grand Tour where we saw the Rimac Concept one disappear?

Jeremy Clarkson was astounded at the acceleration of the Rimac saying "That Rimac, just f*!£s off!". Now picture that kind of instant acceleration and apply it to the Mercedes SLR Vision Concept combined with the luxurious Mercedes interior that we all know, this concept if made could be a game-changer.

All we need to do now is petition for Mercedes to actually make it.

  • It looks brilliant but if they do build it how much of the styling will actually make production?

  • It is inevitable that even supercars are going to be electric unfortunately. But, the design of this concept is striking. I would like to see it put into production for those amazingly butch looks alone.
