A Group Of Honda Employees Are Taking The New NSX GT3 Racing!
After Campaigning Civics they have made the logical step up to the NSX!
The Honda of American Racing Team (HART) has confirmed their purchase of a brand new NSX GT3. HART has been participating in IMSA's Continental Tire Series in Honda Civics. Yesterday they confirmed they will be taking on America's premier endurance races in a brand new NSX GT3. Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen and Petite Le Mans are all part of the North American Endurance Series and HART is going to be taking on a stout field of GT3 machinery.
But just another team committing to a partial season isn't really anything new, this sort of thing Happens all the time in IMSA. However, what makes this interesting is HART is a team made up of Honda employees and engineers. These are people who's day job is not going racing. Yes, they assisted Michael Shank Racing this past season but the team itself isn't a direct Honda factory effort.
“This has been a long time dream for the team,” said crew chief Andrew Salzano. “We have worked really hard to get here and multiple people have committed countless hours of personal time to make it happen. We are all very excited to get this opportunity but now we have a lot of work to do in a short period of time.”
Current HART driver Chad Gilsinger and Ryan Eversley have been confirmed as the first two drivers for the new project. Eversley spent time getting to know the NSX GT3 this past season driving for RealTime Racing in the Pirelli World Challenge.
“This is definitely a dream come true for me,” said Chad Gilsinger. “This is what I have been working towards since I started driving and am very honored to take this next step with my team, my co-workers, and my friends. They all have been instrumental in getting us here and I’m glad they trust me enough to put me in this position. Of course I also have to thank HPD for this opportunity and Honda of America Manufacturing and PMC for their support of our team.”
Eversley echoed his teammates sentiments, “We’ve had some really good success together in the past and I’m honored that they would choose me to drive for them while taking on the biggest challenge in their programs history. The team learned a lot working with Michael Shank Racing last season and with my background in the NSX I think together, we’ll be in the hunt for the NAEC championship.”
This is one of those stories you can not help but like. These guys are doing all of this because of their extreme passion for motorsports. There isn't any cooperate overlord to answer to. I wish HART all the luck in the world.
