- Miura....the original Supercar....by Michael Ledwitz

A grown man's wet dream...

What can I say about the one and only car that has made me almost cry when I drove it 10 years ago.

I was showing my automotive artwork at an Italian car show in Georgia about 10 years ago. I was in the middle of talking to an owner of a 1972 Dino that only had 18,000 miles on the clock, when this drove in ...I almost wet myself right there. She was a 1967 P400 and MY GOD she was absolutely perfect. I immediately said to the man who owned the Dino .."excuss me " . I had to find that owner of that car. I was on a mission to sit in that car! To my surprise , I was able to go for a ride in that car and also drive the car at a later point. Fast forward to the day that the world became a WHOLE LOT BETTER! I arrive at my friends Kirk's home in Georgia. He had owned this car since 1999. The purchase price then was a mere $70,000 dollars!...he was selling it for $310,000 at that time in 2006. Unreal...and what was even more unreal is that I was going to be the lucky one who was going to drive the car of my dreams. Holy Shit !...I just was freaking out . For those who know, the term "Super car" comes from this work of art.

This was the moment that really and sincerely changed the game for me. So here I go, I get in the car and start her up . My god she sounded perfect. 12 cylinders of heaven. The gate on the manual shift was perfect. I could not believe that I was being transformed into Michael Caine in the Italian Job....and by the way we share the same birthday of March 14th. On a side note , who ever was responsible for destroying that Miura should be SHOT! How could anyone in there right mind destroy a car like that!...okay , okay I know that I am going off the deep end over hear, but DO YOU KNOW HOW PAINFUL THAT SCENE IS TO WATCH!.. Getting back to our story,..I start to drive the car and I must tell you that it was just incredible!...

I mean I N C R E D I B I L E ! in every sense of the word. We didn't go crazy with her, we just drove her and I mean drove her. It was one of the most beautiful days of my life. Just perfect....Drive your passion.
