I always like it when Hot Wheels does a realistic race car, so this one had to come home with me when I spotted it in my local Supermarket.

In 1970, Martini Racing’s Hans-Dieter Dechent offered his factory 917-043 for Porsche’s recently appointed designer, Anatole Lapine, to decorate. Lapine created the swirling psychedelic design, first laying purple and then matte fluorescent green on factory-fresh white Porsche paintwork. The work was completed over the Le Mans week, using some 1,500 spray cans.

And while the Hot Wheels is not an exact replica of that car, it is close enough to be instantly recognizable. Of course you couldn't put a "Martini" label on a toy car these days!
