After helping with the setup at the Airtime volkswagen meeting in Diessen The Netherlands. All the volunteers where invited for a tour at one of the sponsors BBT4VW. BBT is a well known world wide aircooled parts supplier. It was founded by Arlette van Dijck and Bob van Heyst during the autumn of 1986.
from a 3 pallet front yard to a 4140m² bussiness.
The first shop measured only 20m² and the initial stock consisted of three pallets of mainly restoration and performance parts from California, these were delivered by truck and deposited on the lawn of Bob’s parents house. Pure hobby. When customers came a few weeks later, speaking another language than Bob’s native tongue, he realised this was serious business.
Stacks of front panels awaiting new owners.
The present business takes up 4140m² of space, 2530m² is a warehouse dedicated to air cooled Volkswagens, the workshop and showroom for their collection of vehicles occupies a further 1310m², with a 260m² shop for the display of their range of products and an additional 310m² of hyper-modern office space filled with the necessary equipment to provide an excellent service.

BBT4VWOur speciality is originality
you will definitely find a car to your taste at BBT. Apart from the ‘usual’ beetles and rear engined buses, their speciality is originality, cars in first paint and/or other Volkswagen curiosities. The Volkswagens which used to inspire Bob’s imagination are now in his own collection and he has even been lucky enough to sell them. There are among other things a couple of schwimmwagens, kubelwagens, KDF cars, cherrypickers, laddertrucks and coachbuilds such as Rometsch, Denzel, and a Dannenhauer
A volkswagen powered streetsweeper? why not, bob collects everything VW related.
The collection is dropdead impressive. pretty much all of the popular aircooled volkswagens where present, even rare ones like the Schwimwagen and even a aircooled enginged streetsweeper! i felt like a elephant in a porcelain store walking past these cars you normally only see in magazines when i looked inside the cars i was even more amazed. allmost every car had a rare radio in it. I found out that vintage radio's is Bob's other hobby. every car has its own story to tell, Bob uses cards on the car with information on it about the history and the specifications. The collection is endless and we really didnt have enough time to give every car the attention that it deserved. if you ever get the oppurtunity to visit them, make sure you do. this is something you dont want to miss.
I'd like to thank Peter Guldentops for his hospitality and kindness to invite us over.
