A water pump change on a Lotus Elan is a fairly serious affair, especially, for a car over 50 years old. It means the head has to be removed, exhaust manifold, engine mounts, carbs etc...etc...
So...I examine the head....leaky exhaust valve guides.....this means a head rebuild.
So now I decide.....the engine bay could do with a spruce up. So now the engine bay is stripped.
Did I say a couple of days........ready next Spring, thats if all goes to plan...but then again its a LOTUS.
