A Rivian R1T EV pickup has already had a crash

Out of all the cars it could have hit, it crashed into an expensive German saloon...

The first production version of the Rivian R1T pickup truck left the assembly line just a week ago, yet it looks like another has had its first crash.

We know this isn't the one that left the factory recently because it doesn't appear to be a customer car judging by the blue and grey camouflage wrap it's sporting in the hot Californian sun.

Unfortunately, the car the EV pickup chose to ram into was a very expensive Mercedes-Benz S-Class and a Ford Explorer. While an explanation has not been shared, judging by the photos shared on a Rivian forum suggest, the driver lost control of the pickup and went straight up a hill, through a hedge, and into some cars in a car park.

The damage doesn't look too severe, but it looks like the two cars driven into will need to visit the repair shop for some panel damage.

  • So he left the road and didn’t think to come off the throttle and hit the brakes?

Or did the motors lock on?
