A Season In Review IX: Kimi Raikkonen

1y ago

Does Kimi Raikkonen possess the speed he once had? I wouldn't say so, but the Finn's consistency deserves a lot of praise and he was rewarded with his best championship position in six years. He also picked up his first win since Australia 2013 with victory in Austin. An emotional one for him as I'm sure we can all understand....

At the end of the day, there were too many races where Raikkonen could not keep up with his teammate. Even during a tough season for Vettel, he held a dominant lead in qualifying and that translated to the race more often than not.

Now seems like a good time to move on, Raikkonen's time at Ferrari has been successful with multiple wins and a championship, now he goes to race for Sauber for the first time in nearly two decades.

RATING: 6.5/10

  • 6.5!!!! Raikkonen scored twelve podiums and a win, and since Hockenheim scored more points than Vettel! Personally the combination of Leclerc and Raikkonen would be better than Vettel.

    • He won one race in a car that was capable of winning much more than once (As Vettel did) He was also constantly outqualified by his teammate. Hard to give him much more than 6.5

    • I suggest you do your research, Kimi had an old engine for most of the season, and was treat as a number 2. Funny how he won once Kimi was let go by Ferrari.
