The unofficial winner of Formula 1.5, Nico Hulkenberg took full advantage of the improved Renault to deliver another great season for the Enstone team. The arrival of Carlos Sainz did nothing to shake the confidence of 'The Hulk' who held an advantage over the Spaniard on both Saturdays and Sundays.
A 5th place at the German GP, his home race, was the best result, but the season itself was more about a collection of good results rather than one or two standouts. Hulkenberg was able to finish in the top 7 on no fewer than eight occasions throughout the year.
Hulkenberg has seen the team grow and grow since his arrival and now it's about bridging the gap to the top 3. A potentially quicker car plus a plucky Aussie teammate to deal with next year puts the pressure on and perhaps gives him his best opportunity at a podium yet.
