A serial car scratcher is accused of having keyed more than 600 cars in Germany
In Germany, a man appeared in court accused of scrapping a record number of cars in Bavaria between February and April 2018. The German media DW claims that the 26-year-old man is accused of having scratched no less than 642 cars! The damage caused to the bodyworks is estimated at around €930,000 (£790,000/$1,030,000).
The man was active in the Lower Franconia district, particularly in the cities of Schweinfurt, Würzburg and Veitshöchheim. The case was so important that the police even set up a "bodywork scratch" commission to investigate the various complaints effectively.
It worked, as this commission received a call from a 24-year-old woman one morning in April 2018. She heard intense scratching noises coming from outside. The woman looked out the window and finally noticed someone going from vehicle to vehicle visibly scratching them.
The police then arrived on the scene and arrested the individual in time. This person was a 26-year-old young man who had a screw on him at the time of the events. The procedure has not yet taken place and it is not known what sentence the person would receive if found guilty.
