A storm is brewing

There's a Huracan on the way

Over the years, Richard has given us a wealth of knowledge and entertainment with his multiple reviews. From budget cars back in the early days during his Men & Motors era, to lavish Supercars on his Top Gear years and now of course, The Grand Tour

But for me, one of my all time favourite reviews is from his previous TV stint on Top Gear. It comes in the form of the Lamborghini Huracan

HEAVY WEIGHT

The Huracan acquires its name from a famous Spanish fighting bull. Never has a car been more suited to its name. As hefty as a bull is in terms of weight, the Huracan came with an equally weighty price tag of £187,000.

THE SPICE IS RIGHT

From the second that Richard begins to rev it up, make no mistake, just based on the sound alone, you can hear that the Huracan is going to deliver the goods. But there's more. Capable of going from 0-60 in just three seconds, a top speed of 200mph, and if that wasn't enough, there's the 600 horsepower just to add extra spice to this green machine

Keeping track

You can see the pure elation from Richard's face as the revs start to climb, and he feels the full force of what this powerful, and oh so beautifully crafted speed demon has to offer. He makes mincemeat of it, as he shows its capabilities of cornering at '"sensational speeds". With its astonishing grip, Richard has no problem in terms of staying on track. Also, if you're a fan of slithering your way about like a snake, then the Huracan also delivers more than enough fun to put a smile on your face. However, as Richard so eloquently put it, ''you would need an enormous pair of gentleman balloons", not to mention acquiring your own personal airfield to play on. The latter might be a little ambitious though if you ask me

"i'm glued down. the grip is astonishing"

DRAWBACKS

However, as good as any car can be, there are always downsides. The Huracan was designed to feel '"tame and user friendly". To get the full on effect of the craziness of it, you would have to resort to an airfield, as Richard had previously said. Another drawback for Richard, was the aesethics. For him personally, he felt that it just wasn't bedroom poster material. It just didn't have that 'wow' factor. Designed more with a view to shifting large quantities of them, and keeping its looks as it aged over the following years. the following years. Sadly, for Richard on this occasion, it just didn't tick all the boxes. What do you think?

  • He makes an interesting point. Does a car company strive to make great cars or great profits? They can rarely strive for one without sacrificing something of the other. Jaguar, Porsche and Rolls making SUV's? That's not really what they are about. But they have to make them, so the company makes enough money to turn out F-Types, XJs, 911s and Phantoms!

    • Quite right there. What I can't understand why so many manufacturer's like replacing cool cars with SUV'S like the VW Sirroco being replaced with the T-Roc

    • I guess the trouble is they make the money on the boring stuff! 😕

  • Yes, that was a great review indeed. My favourite is the Pagani Huayra review. www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_bakHYcD9o&app=desktop

  • 95% sure i drove past one of these today in my small town north of London. May have been a bit too excited to pay full attention to which Lamborghini it was. But my 6yr old in back kept screaming “LETS RACE IT, LETS RACE IT”. I had to explain to her that we were in a Renault megane and physically couldn’t haha

    • Oh wow! That's quite a high percentage of maybe catching sight of one, so it most likely was. Awww bless her lol. I bet you struggled to keep a staright face while explaining to her haha

    • Yes I really did struggle haha but was really impressed with her! Her next bit was she’s going to grow up, earn lots of money to buy one and then I can be part of the race haha
