Cars catching on fire is nothing new. With cars like the Ferrari 458 and numerous Lambos often being seen ablaze, this story seems like nothing new.
In this case however, the car in question is a Tesla Model S, which is electric. Electric fires are extremely dangerous as they cannot be extinguished with water and have to be put out with a special type of foam. Also these electric fires can spread really quickly and can last up to a week after they start.
This Tesla was in a repair shop in Hangzhou when it caught fire in the middle of the night. Thankfully, nobody was injured.
Mechanical issues surrounding Teslas aren't exactly rare these days. One incident in Texas occurred where a Tesla was stuck on autopilot – a scary prospect.
The Model X has also had issues such as the middle row of seats being deemed unsafe, as – in the event of a crash – the middle row of seats would move upwards, risking injury.

I would set fire to them all!
Teslas don't just catch fire they must have been fiddling with the batteries
agreed
Samsung phones?
Had to be them messing with it, Tesla’s are actually quite safe and the only reason it seems like they’re not is because the media amplifies whenever somethings happened. Had to have been the body shop.
Well if you see posts of Teslas burning on the DT homepage almost everyday, it is pretty obvious something is wrong....
Otherwise the NTSB would launch an investigation of some sort...we’ll have to see how it plays out.
Wow another Tesla barbecue. Funny thing is non of the dealerships have them in stock.
They all burned down on the way to dealership 😂
