Acura Debuts TLX Type- S Concept
Concept to be shown at Monterey with production release speculated for 2021
When the TLX first hit the market many people immediately started asking about the schedule for a Type-S variant as previous car models such as the CL, RSX, and TL received a Type-S variant. With the Type-S, Acura aims these models squarely at the enthuiasist crowd who want better power and handling in their car and are willing to pay for it.
This week at the Monterey Car Festival, Acura is showing off the concept for the TLX Type-S and it is certainly striking. With larger wheels, Brembo brakes, and quad exhausts, it certainly is a striking look that injects some much needed styling into an Acura brand that had since 2009 become staid.

While no performance specs are provided just yet, Car and Driver has some speculation about the engine being transverse, V6, and turboed. This would be in line with what has previously been guessed about Type-S. Also, previous photos of what was believed to be a test mule for the TLX Type-S showed it running around test tracks with an Audi A4 and Mercedes AMG C43. As those cars are around 350hp something similar for this may be a reasonable expectation.
