The Honda/Acura Integra has been out of production for 15 years since the end of the DC5 production, and the name Integra name has been absent from North America for 20 years. Since then, car enthusiasts have been asking for a new Integra and, yesterday, Acura confirmed it would be bringing back the Integra in Spring 2022 through a teaser on social media and a drone show. During the reveal, Acura Vice President Jon Ikeda said the 2022 Integra will retain the "fun-to-drive spirit and DNA" of the original Integra, and given Honda's recent success in performance-oriented cars, they think it will be a success.
With this news coming out there has also been quite a bit of speculation about the upcoming Integra as well.
People are speculating it will share a platform with the new redesigned 2022 Honda Civic and will exclusively be a 2 door coupe, unlike the first 2 generations of Integra which were offered in both 4 door sedan and 2 door coupe. Some spy photos have also leaked online of the car which takes some styling cues from the JDM 2nd generation Honda Integra, and the DC5, as well as the current NSX.
There is also speculation that there will be an Integra Type-S trim which will be the Integra equivalent to the Civic Type-R, with the same engine and transmission although I'd rather see the Integra Type-R name make a return instead, but only time will tell.
