Back in October of 2020, Volkswagen announced its latest addition to its ever-expanding SUV lineup: the all-new 2022 Taos subcompact SUV. With rugged exterior styling, advanced technology, and a fuel-efficient powertrain, the Taos is a stylish and practical subcompact SUV. VW has announced that the Taos will start at only $22,995 when it goes on sale in June of 2021, and has announced trim level and feature availability as well. Read on to find out more about each all-new 2022 VW Taos trim level, as well as feature availability. NOTE: Any and all pricing discussed in this article includes a mandatory destination fee, but does NOT include any applicable taxes, or other fees.

The all-new 2022 Volkswagen Taos will be available in three different trim levels: base S, mid-level SE, and range-topping SEL. Starting at $22,995 for a Front Wheel Drive (FWD) model, or $25,040 for a 4MOTION All Wheel Drive (AWD) model, the base S trim of the all-new 2022 VW Taos comes well-equipped, with standard equipment such as seventeen-inch (17") tires and aluminum-alloy wheels, LED front headlamps with LED daytime running lamps (DRL's), LED rear tail lamps, the KESSY keyless access and entry system with a push-button ignition, the MIB 6.5-inch (6.5") touchscreen infotainment system with wired (ONLY) Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, Bluetooth, and USB integration, the VW Digital Cockpit with an eight-inch (8.0") VW Digital Cockpit full-color Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) reconfigurable instrument cluster display, automatic on/off delay front headlamps, a four-speaker audio system, black power-adjustable exterior side mirrors and roof-mounted side rails, a rear view backup camera system, VW CarNet telematics with 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, and two USB-C ports. In addition, the S trim can also be equipped with the optional IQ.DRIVE S Package and the S Convenience Package (both for an additional $995), which include features such as forward collision alert with autonomous braking (Front Assist), an active blind spot monitor, an adaptive cruise control (ACC) with stop-and-go, Travel Assist, Emergency Assist, an automatic front high-beam headlamp control system (Light Assist), a heated leatherette (vinyl)-wrapped steering wheel, and a leather-wrapped automatic transmission shift lever.

Starting at $27,245 for a Front Wheel Drive (FWD) model, or $28,695 for an All Wheel Drive (AWD) model, the all-new 2022 Volkswagen Taos SE adds even more convenience and safety equipment to the base S trim. These added features include eighteen-inch (18") tires and machined aluminum-alloy wheels, forward collision warning with autonomous braking (Front Assist), an active blind spot monitor, the MIB 3 eight-inch (8.0") touchscreen infotainment system with wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, SiriusXM Satellite Radio with 360L and an included paid trial subscription, USB integration, and Bluetooth, a six-speaker audio system, three USB-C ports, a Qi-compatible wireless device charging system, combination VW "V-Tex" (leatherette) and cloth-trimmed seating surfaces, an eight-way, power-adjustable front driver's seat with power lumbar support, dual heated front bucket seats, heated front windshield washer nozzles, a leatherette (vinyl)-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, a remote vehicle starter system, privacy glass windows, silver-painted side roof rails, and color-keyed power-adjustable and heated exterior side mirrors. The SE trim can also be equipped with a dual-pane power panoramic moonroof for an additional $1,200, and eighteen-inch (18") black-finished aluminum-alloy wheels for an additional $395. The IQ-DRIVE SE Package and SE Convenience Package is also available for an additional $895, and adds even more convenience and driver assistance features, including a heated leatherette (vinyl)-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, an automatic front high-beam headlamp control system (Light Assist), and rain-sensitive front windshield wipers.

For buyers of the all-new 2022 Volkswagen Taos who want it all, there's the SEL trim, starting at $31,490 for a Front Wheel Drive (FWD) model, or $33,045 for a 4MOTION All Wheel Drive (AWD) model. The SEL adds many luxury amenities to the mid-level SE trim, including nineteen-inch (19") tires and aluminum-alloy wheels (for 4MOTION All Wheel Drive (AWD)-equipped models ONLY), LED front headlamps with LED daytime running lamps (DRL's) and the Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS), an illuminated front grille, GPS navigation, a 10.25-inch (10.25") VW Digital Cockpit Pro Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) LCD reconfigurable instrument cluster display, luxury leather-trimmed seating surfaces, dual heated and ventilated front bucket seats (for 4MOTION All Wheel Drive (AWD)-equipped models ONLY), an eight-speaker Beats Audio premium audio system with an amplifier, a ten-color ambient LED interior lighting system, a heated leatherette (vinyl)-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, an auto-dimming inside rearview mirror (ISRV), and the VW Climatronic dual-zone automatic climate control system. The IQ-DRIVE Package also comes as standard equipment on the SEL trim, and includes driver assistance features such as an automatic front high beam headlamp control system (Light Assist) and Dynamic Road Sign Display. A dual-pane panoramic power moonroof can also be added onto the SEL trim for an additional $1,200.

All 2022 Volkswagen Taos models will be powered by an all-new 1.5L Turbocharged ("TSI") Inline Four-Cylinder (I4) gasoline engine, which produces a potent 158 horsepower, and 184 lb. ft. of torque (it will also eventually replace the current 1.4T unit in the VW Jetta). Front Wheel Drive (FWD) models include a traditional eight-speed automatic transmission (the same unit as used in the VW Jetta), while 4MOTION All Wheel Drive (AWD)-equipped models will feature a Continuously-Variable Automatic (CVT) Transmission. VW builds the Taos at its assembly plant in Puebla, Mexico. The all-new 2022 VW Taos will go on sale at VW dealerships nationwide in June of 2021.
