Alfa Romeo To Return To Formula 1 In Partnership With Sauber
Sauber have just confirmed that they are partnering with the Italian manufacturer Alfa Romeo from 2018. Alfa will be their title sponsor which will include strategic, commercial and technological cooperation, as they have said in the tweet shown here:
The team will be renamed 'Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 team', as stated above, and are keen to build their Formula 1 experience after 30 years out of the sport.
The car, shown below, will be equipped with a Ferrari power unit.
Here's what Pascal Picci, Chairman of Sauber Holding AG says about the new partnership:
“We are very pleased to welcome Alfa Romeo to the Sauber F1 Team. Alfa Romeo has a long history of success in Grand Prix racing, and we are very proud that this internationally renowned company has chosen to work with us for its return to the pinnacle of motorsport. Working closely with a car manufacturer is a great opportunity for the Sauber Group to further develop its technology and engineering projects. We are confident that together we can bring the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team great success, and look forward to a long and successful partnership.”
As Alfa is under the Fiat Chrysler group, it will be interesting to see the growth of F1 in the American market, especially since the acquiring of F1 by the American company, Liberty Media.
