Alfa's Abandoned Plant (now demolished). I'm not gonna cry, I'm not gonna cry...

In 1963, this was the epicenter of the automotive world in Italy. Alfa had to open a new factory in Arese, just outside Milan, because the plant in central Milan, in the "Portello" area, couldn't cope with demand. For ten years, this huge plant was churning out cars at an incredible rate until in 1973, the oil crisis hit. And it hit hard. Over the course of ten years, the production force was reduced from 22,400 employees to about 16k. This number kept on decreasing at a steady rate until, in 2005, the plant was shut down. It was demolished in 2013 and now there's a huge car park in its place, alongside a small Alfa Romeo museum.
