Alisha Abdullah felicitated by WCD Ministry with 'First Ladies' award

The Indian racer was recognised for her efforts in the field of motor racing.

One of India's popular racers Alisha Abdullah was honoured by the 'First Ladies' award last weekend by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India in the presence of the President Ram Nath Kovind.

Following on the '100 Women Achievers' initiative by the Government, 112 women who were first to set the tone in their respective categories were felicitated with the award in the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

Basically, the memento was presented to the women who took upon themselves to pursue on a path where no other Indian women would venture. "This award really means a lot to me," said Abdullah. "Sometimes in sports, you go low sometimes and you are not always at your higher peak.

"I was really happy to get recognized by the government and the President himself and other dignitaries. It really feels overwhelmed when such big people know you well with your achievements. This thing motivated me a lot and now I have to prove more in my coming racing season in February."

Abdullah has been in the Indian motor racing scene for over a decade now, having raced in both the four-wheel and two-wheel categories. With the racing, she has also taken up the mentor role with her academy and team as well.

    • No problems Mark. And yes, it seems like a good initiative to recognise talents in different fields and bring them together.
