All 2022 V8 Mustangs will come with less power than before...
GT and Mach 1 Mustangs have received modifications to their 5.0-litre V8 engines that reduce the output by 10hp and 10 lb-feet of torque.
All 2022 Ford Mustangs fitted with the optional 5.0-litre V8 engine come with less power than before – making fans a little upset.
It has been confirmed by Ford that the 5.0-litre Coyote engine V8 will make 10 fewer horsepower and 10 fewer pound-feet of torque in both GT and Mach 1 models than before, regardless of transmission.
Ford hasn't released the exact modifications that caused this decrease in power and torque, but it's likely due to stricter emissions requirements.
Nevertheless, the 2022 V8 Mustang will still come with a lot of horsepower and is set to be rated at 450 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque in the GT and 470 horsepower and 410 lb-ft in the Mach 1.
The base EcoBoost turbocharged 2.3-litre inline-four has not been affected and will still make 310 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque in its base form or 330 hp with the optional Performance package.
However, if power is a really big deal to you then you could always opt for the Shelby GT500 which is powered by a supercharged 5.8-litre V8 producing 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque.
