Alpina's V12 Autobahn destroyer in 1/18 scale
OttOmobile's latest BMW E38 release is an instant must-have for your collection
The E38 BMW 7 Series is often regarded as one the best looking sedans to ever come out of Munich. KK Scale recently released their 1/18 scale interpretation of the Autobahn legend, but I immediately sold mine on eBay when OttO announced the return of the E38 to their catalog. The last time they released a take on the E38 750iL, it was a gorgeous black model sitting on M-Parallel wheels. That model was released several years ago now and commands a hefty premium on the secondhand markets.
Just last month, OttO dialed up the E38 again for the first time in six years, but this time with an Alpina twist. This model is the B12-6.0, which you know means it's packing a 6.0L V12 engine up front. This beast of an engine was a modified version of the legendary BMW M73 V12, producing 424 horsepower and 443 lb ft of torque. This thing had an appetite for asphalt and could cruise down the Autobahn at 181 mph. Only 94 cars were produced by Alpina between 1999 and 2001, so don't blink if you ever get the chance to see one in person.
OttOmobile's model is an absolute stunner. Estoril Blue paint job? Check. 20" Alpina Classics wheels? You bet. Subtle silver Alpina pin stripes? Of course. Don't forget to notice the clear turn signals and side markers which complete the iconic Euro tuner look. It's also got a dramatic rake from the rear to the front of the car just to give it that much more presence. Sorry KK Scale, this one stole your spot on my shelf.

Superb model, and sadly reminding me of how BMW used to have class and be a marque I wanted to purchase.
Oh man the detail is just wow
Oh yes, I want my old Beemer now!
Okay, I want this for Christmas
I bought one with every intention of giving it to you, then I opened it.
But did you drop it? I reckon that's going to be a worthwhile investment once Ben gets it.
I'm happy it has one of my favorite engines in it
