Amazon Unveils Working Rivian-Built Electric Delivery Van Prototype

Amazon has finally revealed a prototype of their Rivian-built electric delivery van. These vans are expected to be on the road in 2021, and Amazon says they will have 100,000 of them by 2030. This prototype is one of three models that will be bought by Amazon.




This van is packed with tech and has Alexa voice controls, a built-in delivery optimization system, driver assistance features, multiple cameras, and other features.




Rivian has integrated a suite of driver assistance features and strengthened the driver door to protect said driver in the event of a collision.


The Rivian-built van has an estimated range of 150 miles, and this prototype is capable of that number. Rivian is partially funded by Amazon and Ford, and has the 2021 R1T pickup truck and R1S SUV in the works.

  • I can see where electric would be a great thing for local fleet delivery companies. They drive during the day and charge at night.

    Still don't care for them for a car because of the recharge time.

    I just drove 600 miles in 9 hours with my car and I can't do that with a Tesla.
