Every year, when summer is about to really kick off - a rather interesting bunch of car enthusiasts are gathered at a campsite in the Norwegian city Kristiansand.

People from far and near brings caravans, tents and their favourite American cars for a full weekend of greasy food, good drinks, live music and of course - petrol fueled fun.

I’ve done my fair share of camping when I was younger, but now the thought alone makes me shudder. Luckily, I was just over for a daily visit - and it was a pretty cool day!

When I first arrived I noticed this beautiful 1957 Plymouth Sport Fury trying to hide. (PHOTO: Helene Helle)

There is a chance I spent some extra time looking at the gorgeous 1970 Ford Mustang. (PHOTO: Helene Helle)

If there’s no Mustang, is it really an American car meet? (PHOTO: Helene Helle)

This shiny 1948 Pontiac Streamliner was definitely a head-turner. (PHOTO: Helene Helle)

A 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR was to be found amongst the more modern cars. (PHOTO: Helene Helle)

This beautiful dashboard belongs to a 1966 Corvette Stingray 427. (PHOTO: Helene Helle)

1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu. (PHOTO: Helene Helle)

Taking a closer look at the Chevelle Malibu, with a visible layer of pollen. Let’s just say there was a lot of it - everywhere. (PHOTO: Helene Helle)

What American car would you bring on a camping trip?

  • Beautiful pictures! So atmospheric... I´d take a first generation Camaro. I still love them, although I'm not really in american cars, to be honest.

    • Thank you so much! That's a good one. They're not my first choice either, but they're interesting to look at.

  • Very amazing photos, such nostalgia and I would loveeee to go camping with very minimal gear like these people. I would consider bringing an older Chevy or Ford bubble body pick up. That would be loads of fum
