American car maker Hennessey to make a 1,000-hp McLaren 765LT
Because it (obvi) needs more 'powerrrrr'
John Hennessey, founder and owner of Hennessey Performance Engineering, made a name for himself by consistently raising the bar to create high-performance vehicles. Having given 1,000 hp to just about every vehicle he ever owned and/or built, he's now decided to give the McLaren 765LT the 'Hennessey' treatment with (yeah) a 1,000-hp upgrade. Duh.
The stock 765LT is no slouch, with a 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds, but the Hennessey Performance Engineering team recalibrated the ECU, fitted new high-flow air filters and a stainless steel downpipe, which means the supercar can now hit 60 mph in just 2.1 seconds. They call it the 'HPE1000'.
"The new 765LT is underrated from the factory. We tested it on our in-house dyno and it delivered about 765 HP - at the rear wheels," John Hennessey said. "This means it's producing closer to 865 bhp in bone stock form". The HPE1000 upgrade costs $24,950 but I guess if you can afford to spend over $300k on a new McLaren 765LT, $25k for the upgrade is just a drop in the ocean.
