An LS-Swapped Cadillac Sedan is Exactly What Everyone Needs
Certainly an interesting twist on an otherwise mundane car
Oh... life. With COVID cases on the rise in close to 80% of the states, everyone is itching to go outside and have some fun. Unfortunately for us, most of the ways we have fun outside can involve other people. Not with this thing. Introducing the 2001 Cadillac Catera.
Now, you might be thinking, "But Connor, the Catera was a forgettable GM product of the early 2000s, how could it ever be fun?" Well, the normal Catera was dreary at best, weighing just 300 lbs short of 2 tons, and having a 3.0L V6 making just 200 horsepower. But, this one is special.

This Catera is nothing short of a monster. When it was leased by the 1st owner in 2001, the car was given the LS treatment by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, who stuffed an LS6 and a six-speed manual in it, which was later swapped out for a 7.0L LS7 V8. Modifications to the LS7 include a Corvette C5r block, custom exhaust, LS6 heads, and the intake from an LS6. The car also has suspension components from Eibach and Steinmetz, disc brakes, a limited slip differential, and some 17" wheels.

On the interior, there is a Momo steering wheel in the place of the factory one. The charcoal interior is mostly kept stock, with wood panelling on the interior. A Bose sound system is installed for music. The odometer reads just 42,000 miles, and the listing notes that 40,000 of them have been added by the current owner.

Moving onto appearance mods, the rear has a lip spoiler, and Cadillac V-spec badges have been put on the front fenders.

Would you buy this LS-swapped Cadillac that you’ve probably never heard of? @tribe
If it is as fun as it looks, then I will buy it......
I never knew we had our own Opel Omega
Now you do.
What’s more is they named a Doctor on a TV show after this car.
I don’t recall what medical drama it was, but her name was Lisa Catera.
Read moreThis is in the underpinning the same as a Holden Commodore VT to VX model. The Holden was standard with an LS1 from roughly 1999. It is the predecessor to the Pontiac G8 and Chevrolet SS. It only seems strange as the LS motor was never offered in the US in this model. In Holden form at the same time it was sold in the Australia, New Zealand, UK, and South Africa. Would be one of the simplest engines swaps ever done.
Even weirder that Opel actually made an Omega 5.7 V8 but they said the gearbox cooling couldn't be sorted out - which seems strange if Holden had it already.
I wouldn’t buy it unless I trusted the builder, but I’d sure as hell build and drive one!
