Andretti joins Andretti in LMP3 at Watkins Glen
Another Andretti family tradition continues with the cousins
Andretti Autosport announced today that Marco Andretti will be joining cousin Jarett Andretti for the upcoming Sahlen's Six Hours Of The Glen IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Race. They will be teaming up with Oliver Askew in the No. 36 Ligier JS P320 LMP3 entry.
Marco had this to say about teaming up with his cousin, "I'm looking forward to getting back to Watkins Glen and sports cars. I know Jarett's father, the late John Andretti, really loved driving with family, so I am happy Jarett and I can continue that part for him."
In his early days in the NTT IndyCar Series, Marco made special appearances in what was the forerunner to the Andretti Autosport team in the America Le Mans Series LMP2 category.
Through the years members of the Andretti family have joined forces to share sports car drives. Seeing his son continue that tradition this year at Watkins Glen fills Michael Andretti with great pride.
"I'm so proud to see Jarett and Marco coming together to co drive at Watkins Glen. Racing has always been a family affair for us, but it was especially important to John, and it's been a goal of ours to get them in a car together. I'm just glad that this opportunity worked out for Marco to come onboard for the first endurance race of the season."
Fans will get the chance to see Jarett and Marco as teammates when IMSA comes to The Glen, June 25th - 27th.
