Another Tesla loses its roof on a Chinese highway
Another design flaw?
While the Teslas are for sure very good cars, there are some elements that are clearly not up to the level of the competition. The brand's detractors are thus having a field day over one of the biggest weaknesses of the electric cars of Palo Alto, the random and more than questionable build quality.
These recurring assembly flaws were already known, both outside and inside Teslas. In the majority of cases, these problems are minor, but in other circumstances they clearly become dangerous. Several cases of poorly fixed roofs have already been reported.
After major problems with the Model Y and Model X, it is now the turn of the Model S to make its own by automatically transforming itself into a convertible. A Chinese motorist was surprised to see the roof of a Model S flying off a highway in front of him. Fortunately, the incident did not cause an accident.
Tesla immediately contacted the customer to check the vehicle. After investigation, it turned out that the Model S in question had had its panoramic roof replaced by a Tesla workshop shortly before the event. Further investigation is ongoing.
