Movistar Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales was relieved to limit the damage to his MotoGP title prospects at Misano and is now aiming to recover some ground at Aragon.
Vinales qualified on pole at Misano last time out but in wet conditions on race day, he finished off the rostrum in fourth place to register his best performance in the damp on the YZR-M1.
Title rivals Marc Marquez and Andrea Dovizioso finished ahead of him, but the young Spanish rider remains right in contention for the championship and is only 16 points behind the duel title leaders.
“It’s very close and for sure it will be very close until the last race. The battle is always good and we are normally in the front, battling, so we are happy because it is so close and we are normally doing a good race,” said Vinales.
