Assertor Class Star Dreadnought
We all know and love the Imperial Class Star Destroyer line of ships and their bigger brothers, the Executor Class Star Dreadnought line of ships. However, the Empire also had the Assertor class of ships at their disposal.
The Assertor was the second largest Dreadnought in the Empire's fleet with only the Exectuor being bigger. Yes, the Assertor measured in at 15km (9.32 miles) long but still held its own against Rebel and pirate attacks. Other Empire Dreadnoughts included the Mandator and Bellator classes of ships.
In terms of weapons, the Assertor was weaker than the Executor but it still had a respectable amount of weaponry. It had over 100 different types of turbolasers, 40 ion cannons, 60 laser cannons and 90 concussion missile launchers spread across its top and bottom surfaces. Basically, the Assertor could destroy an entire planet without the help of a super weapon like the Death Star.
The Assertor had 28 thrusters which were powered by a solar ionization reactor, which was matched to a Class 2 hyperdrive allowing it to move anywhere in the galaxy with no effort at all. The Assertor also had 120 starfighters which were of the standard Imperial TIE Fighter design.
The Assertor class entered service 2 years before the Battle of Yavin (first Death Star attack) and would see service for nearly 140 years.
The Assertor is a fan made design but has been mentioned to an extent in official Disney Star Wars Canon. The ship was designed by Ansel Hsiao, also known as Fractalsponge in the Star Wars community. The original design of the ship has a nose mounted superlaser which can be seen in renderings but it is not recognised in any official material.
