Aston Martin DBX revealed in all its glory

Is this SUV you have been waiting for?

I have a question for Aston Martin. Who is excited about the DBX?

Well, except for themselves.

Aston Martin has been struggling with sales this year, and we all know that. It is not that they do not make brilliant cars. Believe me; they do make some epic cars like the new Vantage. However, the competition is just intense these days.

As a business idea, it should work. Look at what SUVs' have done for Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Lamborghini, etc.

Now I am not a big fan of the performance SUV, and I have driven my share of them like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Maserati Levante Trofeo. But I can see the appeal they have for a broader audience.

However, with many brands talking about a big EV game, I am always ready to welcome anything with a V8 under the hood. So welcome to this mad ever-changing world Aston Martin DBX. We love you for your V8.

The DBX comes with a V8 from the Vantage and DB11, producing 550 ps. This 4-liter piece of art has been specifically tuned for this car.

The DBX also claims to be able to go off-road. However, would you buy it go offroad I do not think so? But it does give you the option in case the drive-through for your local frappuccino seller has a gravel path.

It has an E-diff with a nine-speed torque converter gearbox.

With space for five and 600+ liters of boot space, it is the most practical Aston Martin on sale currently.

Here is where I see the appeal, families who would love to have a pedigree brand with enough space for their family and friends. A car which can put a smile on their face when they accelerate, brag about to their friends and take the kids to playdates.

As I finish writing this article, I am on my way to Oman for the unveiling of the DBX. Stay tuned on my Instagram for live updates.

In the meantime watch this promo video of the DBX.

  • It actually looks better than I expected... That Tag Heuer camo made it look kind of like a green hippo with lipstick but it looks fine I guess... Hope to hear more from you Shivaum!

  • I don't want to say they have an entirely new interior, but it looks better than the ones they have on their other cars.

Though they couldn't hide the Mercedes-ness in there.

    • The interior in the photos is looking fab. I think they did a good job of hiding the Merc bits.

    • The screen and the hexagonal layout are the nice looking bits

Including the cool looking air vents

  • The performance SUV for me would be the G63. Reason? It can actually take some serious punishment on and off road.

    • The only G to buy IMO is the G500. Period and that car has no comparison. It’s an icon by itself.

  • That looks incredible. The Porsche Cayenne now has some serious competition
