Aston Martin is building a ruthless and roofless V12 monster

Aston's answer to the McLaren Elva

Aston Martin might be in an uncertain financial position but optimism is still in the air at Gaydon as Aston Martin have announced that they will be building a 700bhp, handbuilt V12 monster - the Speedster

This speedster pays homage to Aston Martin’s legendary 1959 Le Mans 24 hours DBR1 and CC100 Speedster (the concept made to celebrate the brand's centenary).

But for lets talk about the most significant thing that you have noticed so far by reading the headline. Let's talk about the 'V12'. The heart of the car will be a 5.2-litre V12 Twin-Turbo which will produce 700bhp and 700Nm of torque. All that power will be provided to you by a 8-speed automatic transmission.

“The V12 Speedster we’re proud to confirm today once again showcases not only this great British brand’s ambition and ingenuity, but also celebrates our rich and unrivalled heritage."

Dr Andy Palmer

While we only have this sketched silhouette of the Speedster for now, the car is expected to have some very thrilling looks and will have some design cues from the brand's classic speedsters.

Such an extreme car is not for everyone though. Only 88 lucky souls on this planet will be able to get their hands on one. The Speedster is expected to set you back around £800,000 (though there is no official word on the price). So if you have £800,000 then run as fast as you can to Aston Martin's HQ in Gaydon and book one for yourself. And yes, you will not get one delivered to your home untill the first quarter of 2021, so you will have to wait.
