Aston Martin Vulcans are hitting the Hot Wheels pegs

Hot Wheels's take on the track monster hits the mark

I finally found one of the most anticipated Hot Wheels castings of the year. The Hot Wheels Dream Team teased a photo of the Vulcan months ago, and I have been keeping an eye out on the pegs ever since. I finally found one last week as this case is finally hitting my area.

Apple Tree Green is also my favorite paint for the Vulcan to wear. You may have heard on the LaLD Podcast that I recently acquired AutoArt's 1:18 scale Vulcan as well, same color. The Hot Wheels version is surprisingly detailed, and not very detailed at the same time. We get headlight tampos, but the track monster doesn't have intricate lights to begin with. Mattel absolutely nailed the flowing shape of the Aston though, and the two piece design works out perfectly.

I knew we weren't going to see any crazy needle taillights on a Hot Wheels car, but I didn't expect to see nothing at all. A sea of black plastic, although perfectly shaped, is pretty boring to look at. The wheel choice is satisfactory, nothing too gaudy or too large. All in all, a great execution from Hot Wheels. I can't wait to see more color variations of this car!

Have you found the Vulcan yet?

    • Thank you sir! I tried something a little different this time. Overexposed instead of my usually under

  • So this hit the pegs in India a few weeks ago. Though I now live almost 6 hour drive away, I am still part of a WhatsApp group of collectors from my hometown and have been able to source this through them. Also Kinsmart released a casting in this same color that I've posted earlier.

  • I saw them a while ago, but it was hard to pick a good one. The paint was blotchy and the headlight tampos were not applied correctly.

  • I've got one of these on my desk, I agree the shape is so sleek and absolutely captures the proportions the real Vulcan has. I see yours has a slight gap at the rear shoulders too, I was going to open it up to see if that can be fixed. Also, maybe there are some seats in there! haha
