The Senna, Project One, the new Batista. One thing all of these hypercars have in common is speed. They reach their insane lap times through a mix of power, downforce, and weight loss. And Aston’s new AM-RB 003 is no exception. Aston Martin called this the “Valkyries son.” I do not disagree. It holds the same traits and passion, a fast sophisticated machine that answers to every twitch of the wheel. It has a very large diffuser and smooth under body. Aston has also equipped it with the latest aero tech, a bendable airfoil across the entire rear. That together should make a lot of downforce. I can’t wait to see it in action. Another way that this car finds it’s wonderful performance is through lot’s, and I mean lot’s of weight saving. It has a full carbon body with carbon racing seats. But besides all of the lightweight metals used to save weight, they also cut something out of the car all together. The dashboard. That’s right, you heard me. The 003 is so intense of weight saving that it has no dashboard. Instead Aston provide a smartphone stand. But that makes sense, there seems to be no reason why to have to include a dashboard. If you're truly wealthy enough to own one of these, the you should be able to afford a smartphone. Which is completely capable of everything a good old dashboard could ever do. So underneath all of it’s F1 technology, great aero and weight loss, is the ever beating heart of the car. It’s an Aston Martin Hybrid V6 seated right behind the driver delivering power to the rear wheels. I can only imagine what it will be like when this car hits the road in 2021.
