Audi teases the sporty e-tron S and e-tron S Sportback SUVs
Audi's electric SUVs are getting athletic
Until now, Audi's sports label has only been applied to the brand's internal combustion vehicles. This statement is no longer valid, as the e-tron and e-tron Sportback electric SUVs will also receive an S version. These two SUVs will therefore become the first electric Audi Ss.
The brand reveals the first images of the Audi e-tron S Sportback, still in camouflage. The vehicle gains optional 22-inch wheels and 23-mm larger wheel arches. The large rims hide orange-painted brake calipers.
The front grille receives a black lacquered colour and the lower section adopts new air intakes with a more vertical shape for more sportiness. Matrix LED headlights are standard on the e-tron S Sportback. At the rear, there is a larger diffuser. The interior will feature sportier bucket seats and several aluminum accents.
The new e-tron S Sportback is equipped with three electric motors giving a maximum combined output of 503 bhp and a torque of 976 Nm. This enables the vehicle to do 0 to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 130 mph. The battery still has a capacity of 95 kWh but the range is expected to be slightly reduced due to the performance.
The Audi e-tron S and e-tron S Sportback will be exposed at the Geneva Motor Show on March 5.
