Audi will release another stunning E-Tron EV next week

Is it a coupe? Is it a shooting brake? Is it both?

The Shanghai Auto Show is underway, scheduled to take place from April 21-28, and apart from the inevitable plethora of Chinese vehicles that aren't necessarily relevant for the European and North American market, there's one European brand that's going to showcase a potentially important vehicle at the show and that's Audi.

After the E-Tron GT and the Q4 E-Tron, the German brand is gearing up to introduce a new vehicle. That's the good news. The bad news is they've only shared one teaser image, and it is cryptic to say the least.

The E-Tron GT is a 4-door coupe, which means it is ideally going to compete with the Porsche Taycan, the Lucid Air and maybe the Tesla Model S, but Porsche recently unveiled the Cross Turismo, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that the new car is basically just a shooting brake version of the E-Tron GT as both cars are actually powered by same powertrain and built on the same Rimac-sourced platform.

  • How about a city car because that's where EVs belong

    • I agree with you. BEVs are most viable in the form of city cars or other small short-range vehicles. When the vehicle gets larger, the size of the battery grows exponentially.

  • Regardless, range stays the same - around 250km. Good try. Better luck next time.
