Audi has taken aim squarely at Lamborghini. Their newly unveiled RS Q8 has already been crowned king of the SUVs at the Nüburgring, lapping the circuit 12 seconds faster than the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63, and 5 seconds faster than the Lamborghini Urus. Ouch.
The new RS Q8 is a pumped-up high-performance version of the ‘regular’ Q8 with a wider body, downforce-generating roof spoiler, large quad exhausts, and of course, a 591bhp 4.0-liter biturbo V8. The engine is enhanced by a mild hybrid starter generator that blasts the Audi to a governed top speed of 155mph, (or 189 if you get the optional dynamic package).
Power is fed through an 8-speed automatic transmission before being put to the ground via the Quattro permanent all-wheel-drive. Torque is split 40:60 front to rear but self-adjusts when it senses a loss of traction. An optional sports differential is available, to distribute torque between the rear wheels.
