AutoArt releases images of first DBS sample
Will be DBS be too 'long in the tooth' by the time the model gets here?
I am absolutely in love with the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera right now. It's my #1 Powerball Car; if I win the lottery I'm going to my local AM dealer to order one right away. I even got to sit in one at the 2019 Amelia Island Concours. I definitely could see myself driving one of these bad boys on the daily. Realistically, a 1/18 scale model of the DBS will be the only Aston Martin thing in my garage.
Naturally, this model has been high on my want list since AutoArt announced that they would be producing one. This hand sample that they posted on Facebook looks very promising. I purposely held off on adding a resin DBS from TopSpeed because I wanted the opening features. The massive, clamshell hood opens towards the front with realistic hinges. It looks like it has the same carbon fibre decal as the Vulcan does, which looks way better than the molded stuff AutoArt has also tried to use.
Unfortunately, AutoArt confirmed in the comments section of their Facebook post that the model likely won't be released until the second half of 2021. With everything getting delayed due to the pandemic and lengthy reviews by licensors, I wouldn't be surprised if this model gets pushed out even further than that. Hopefully AutoArt considers DBS '59 and OHMSS special editions after this initial release. I'll take mine in Hyper Red, whenever it gets here.
