B_ROAD_STORMERS: NO. 1

Toyota MR2 Roadster

When it came to the third installment of the MR2, it was quite a change to its predecessors. It lost the T Top roof for folding vinyl, the pop up headlights had gone but the result of the 8 year production run of the MK3 was truly brilliant. With Toyota's fizzy 1.8 VVT-I developing a modest 138 BHP (also used in the Series 2 Elise), a kerb weight of 990 KG and if your lucky a torsen LSD, this combination made the car one if the best handling cars out there. Period. With its perfect ride and steering response, it makes for one of the best cars to take on the best roads without the need of becoming a racing driver.

With prices as low as ever, you can't do better. Areas to look out for on the MK3's is a smoky exhaust on start up and a uneger engine at the top end of the rev range. But being a Toyota, there is not much else to worry about. Oh and as a bonus here in Britain at least, they aren't too bothered when they come into contact with salt, unlike that other two seater from Mazda...
