Yes, it's true...Volkswagen recently confirmed a new small double-cab bakkie. It is said that a near-production concept will be presented at the São Paulo International Motor Show. However, a Brazil-based artist (Kleber Silva) used the new T-Cross as inspiration, creating his take of the upcoming bakkie.

Volkswagen described the upcoming bakkie as urban-oriented. Furthermore, they stated the new bakkie will feature a clever multivariable loading area. We can also assume that this urban-orientated bakkie will be positioned below the Amarok. Even though it's not specifically mentioned, we can make the assertion that this model will compete with the Renault Duster Oroch.

Towards the end of the first week of November, when Volkswagen reveals the near-production concept, we will find out just how close these renderings are to the real deal. What are your thoughts? Do you like the renders? Is there a market for this model?

  • I wondered what a "bakkie" was. Then I realised it's a ute.
