Back to the Future: Delorean DMC-12 replicas set to be built
Low Volume Vehicle Manufacturers (LVVM) is now allowed to build and sell replicas of the Deloream DMC-12
A few days ago, the famous Delorean DMC-12 celebrated its 40th birthday. Now we've got some more good news. Low Volume Vehicle Manufacturers (LVVM) has got the clearance from National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to build Delorean DMC-12 replicas. Hurrah!
The Delorean DMC company will now build and sell replicas which will not have to be 100% similar to the original car.
Other things like the lights, window glazing and seat belt provisions will have to be according to the federal motoring standards. SEMA president CEO Christopher J. Kersting says that "The roadblocks have been eliminated" after the NHTSA issued a final draft.
325 replica cars will be made and DMC are now in search of an engine supplier as the powertrain that they had planned to put in these replicas. After finalising the engine, DMC will need around $6 million to complete the development. So we might see a new DMC-12 replica car by the end of this year.

Thanks for posting, the DMC certainly has earned a 2nd chance .
Potentially it’s a good choice as a ski holiday car because the stainless steel bodywork is less likely to corrode from the salt that is used to de-ice the roads .
Should keep central Australian nickel miners busy .
I guess they might be looking to put some cool features on the replicas 😎
I just never really know .
I know of a place just north of Houston which has been restoring, and building brand new Deloreans for many years now, I go there all the time, they always have a bunch of Deloreans out front
Post the pic of that lovely place
