We've all seen drivers out there do some silly thing they shouldn't do and then I'm pretty sure we've all seen some drivers out there do some ridiculous thing that makes you question how in the hell they even have a drivers license. But lately the amount of times I see these drivers, from the silly one to the ridiculous one, has increased exponentially, at least here in South Florida where I am. So let me tell you what I'm talking about, give you some examples. Back ten years ago, I could get ready and go to work and during my commute, I might encounter one or maybe two drivers that did something stupid on the road or that were not driving following the rules and laws... or I could even go to work one day and not have any of these encounters. Move forward to today and I can't go 10 blocks from my house before someone cuts me off, stops at a non-stop intersection, doesn't stop at a stop sign, makes a right turn from a center lane, drives 12mph on a 45mph and on and on... this is driving me nuts!!! I used to go out for a drive or go somewhere and I enjoyed driving because, I love driving and I love cars and everything about them (except when you have to fix them and they don't cooperate with you, lol) but now going out in my car anywhere has become a hassle or not even that, now it's just quite dangerous so not a hassle but more like a hazard.
See the picture up top? That picture was taken (actually a video which I'll include later) at the tunnel entrance that goes to the Port of Miami. This tunnel like most tunnels, has one side going one direction and another side going the other direction. This was heading east into the Port of Miami. You take the exit straight into the tunnel from the expressway. Well, this car was coming out of the tunnel, in the wrong direction onto incoming traffic... did I mention it was a tunnel? I honestly don't know how the guy made it out of the tunnel without causing an accident or really, just alive. Most of the traffic in the tunnel is cargo so you get a lot of big trucks, 18-wheelers, etc etc... this could have ended very badly but luckily it didn't. I'm guessing after he passed me he realized how much he was messing up and turned around since he was now going into a four lane expressway with heavy traffic coming towards him... This has to be one of the worse things I have seen somebody do and also one of the luckiest one as well.
What's more unbelievable is that not even two weeks later, something similar was about to happen again. I went in the tunnel the same way and as I was already coming out on the other side getting into to the port, a guy was trying to get into the tunnel once more, in the wrong direction. This time since I was already coming out of the tunnel and there was traffic coming behind me, I pulled next to the guy and told him not to be a dumbass and how stupid it was what he was trying to do, in a nice way though... you know, you think people have common sense that if they see car after car and truck after truck coming out from both lanes of the tunnel then maybe you are trying to go the wrong way? And don't even mind the two huge signs that say "DO NOT ENTER" right there in front of him or the correct entrance of the tunnel going out, the right way, over the barricade next to where he was waiting.
So yeah, every day I feel like people here drive worse and worse. Some of the other things that are annoying and that happen all the time down here are people driving with the hazard lights on when it's raining or cutting across all traffic as soon as they come into an expressway to get on the left lane and go slower than the flow of traffic... things like that. What's worse about it too is that it's not some young kid that is just learning and has no experience driving. It's adults and older crowds that are doing this. Yes, I see younger kids doing stuff too like being on the phone texting or on Facebook but then I see some old lady doing the same thing and her car is all over the road! At least the young kid mostly keeps the car fairly straight on the road (not that it's good anyways). For the most part, I see people that should have experience and common sense doing the most ridiculous things driving and this is ruining my time on the road :(
What have you seen or what have you gone through because of an idiot driver?
