Bad news: the Stinger is about to come to an end...

As Kia transforms the lines of Sohari Plant, the Stinger yields its place to other electric vehicles

Production plans for the Sohari Plant recently got spread, and one of the plans included axing the Stinger for Kia's new electric vehicles, such as Carnival EV.

The main reason for the Stinger's early discontinuation is the low sales. From 2017 to 2018, Stinger was able to make some good sales results (especially by exporting) and was more popular than the Genesis G70. However, after the G70's sales figures outnumbering the Stinger's during mid-2019, Stinger has been overwhelmed by the G70 - even after the Stinger's facelift. For the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2021, the G70 sold 4,437 units, and the Stinger only sold 1,854 units.

Kia said that Stinger's discontinuation is being discussed, but is not completely confirmed.
