A little over a week ago, I attended SimRaceway's advanced karting course, which involves more detailed training in karting techniques and ends with a mock race. The rolling start drill was rather unsettling at first. But when it came time to race at the end of the day, I went into "race mode" and jumped from third place to first immediately in Turn 1. Because that's how it's supposed to be done, right? I ended up in second for most of the race but then had an incident that pushed me back to third, thanks to me getting a tad impatient and going for a gap that closed on me too quickly. Oops. Learned my lesson. It was awesome though and I actually got fastest lap. Can't wait to start racing for real. Will be out practicing as much as possible on the track over this winter to hopefully start racing as soon as possible.
