Bentley To Celebrate Centenary With Special Model
In 1919, Walter Owen Bentley had the idea to build “a fast car, a good car, the best in its class”. As such, Bentley Motors Limited was born. Over the years, the company has gained a reputation as the best in luxury car design and has created many class leading vehicles.
Today, the 4,000 strong staff work to the same ideals as the original Bentley boy W.O. Bentley. In fact, with models such as the Continental and the Mulsanne, the company is catering to the rich and famous’s need for comfort.
Despite its luxurious past, the company has had many successes in the world of endurance Motorsport. Back in the 20’s, the famous Bentley Boys, a group of extravagant playboy millionaires dominated the Le Mans 24 Hour race in, you guessed it… Bentleys. Following that success, in the 2000’s, Bentley returned to the LM scene by competing in the 2001-2003 editions of the race in Bentley Speed 8 LMP1 cars. The program finished after the team managed a 1-2 finish destroying the rest of the field.
2019 marks the 100-year anniversary and as is a custom in the motoring world, a new model will be released to celebrate. No images or stats are available as of yet, but we know the car will be inspired by the company illustrious racing heritage. It is to be released at the Geneva Motor Show on the 5th of March 2019.
