For sure one of the best rallies of the 2017, Rally Argentina ended with a breathtaking battle between Dmack driver Elfyn Evans and Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville.

The Welshman dominated on Friday and extended his lead over Neuville to more than a minute in Saturday’s opening stage, but a double puncture reduced the gap to 44.1 seconds.

On Sunday morning Evans’ brake problems and Neuville’s attack led the pair into the legendary powerstage ‘’El Condor’’ with only a 0.6 seconds gap. However, during the test, the Welshman hit a bridge, losing the chance of a maiden WRC win and Neuville grabbed the victory by just 0.7 seconds - one of the smallest margins in WRC history

Watching that was the worst time in my life. I gave it everything I had but I didn’t have the best tyres because I had been pushing hard for two stages already.

I’m gutted to lose by such a fine margin after so many issues. I hit a bridge and that was probably the difference. It’s difficult to take now after holding such a big lead, but part of it is my own doing and I need to come back stronger to win in the future.”
