Big Crashes Befall Three NHRA Drag Racers
Leah Pruett, Kenny Delco and Alexis DeJoria are all safe after suffering massive crashes
At the uppermost levels of drag racing, especially in competitions held by the National Hot Rod Association in the US, speeds can go as fast as 500mph, with margins that can be as close as a hair or as wide as a mile in the space of a second. And the accidents tend to be both spectacular and grim. Three such accidents happened during NHRA's Midwest Nationals in Madison, Illinois.
Top Fuel driver Leah Pruett walked away from this high-flying accident that saw her rig snap in half. Funny Car driver Alexis Dejoria fared a little better, securing a win in her head-to-head before her car disintegrated, even if it left her shaking after. Kenny Delco also survived his rollover in the Pro Stock elimination round, totalling three crashes in the session
