BMW 8-Series Convertible leaked before official unveiling
Ahead of its official unveiling tomorrow, the BMW 8-Series Convertible has leaked onto the internet. With the 8-Series being hailed as one of the most beautiful BMWs in years, this new convertible version should very well be even more appealing to the eye.
Set to receive a traditional cloth-folding roof - rather than a heavy flat-pack metal arrangement - the convertible will be available with exactly the same engine options as the coupe. At the moment, the flagship of the range is the M850i xDrive - which this model pictured appears to be. There will also be a six-cylinder diesel (no thank you), and a top-of-the-tree M8 with around 600bhp.
It’s unlikely that the convertible treatment will be given to the rumoured M8 Competition, which personally, I don’t believe should be a problem. The drop-top 8-Series is for people who want to cruise comfortably in the sun; for people who want a Mercedes SL with a more youthful image. And the 8-Series gives it to them with aplomb.
According to the photos leaked by Belgium motoring site autotijd, the 8-Series convertible will have a pair of fairly usable rear seats - which when the roof’s down, should be easily accessible. All in all, I think the 8-Series Convertible is going to be a big hit.
But now I want to throw the question to you guys and ask: what do you think of the new 8-Series Convertible? Let me know in the comments.
