BMW defends its new XXL grilles

Times are changing...

45w ago

With its XXL grille, the BMW X7 surprised many people. Its aesthetics has generated many debates that are still relevant today. This new style will be used in the future and will also be applied on the next 4 Series, M4 and M3 in order to differentiate them from the standard 3 Series. BMW is defending this grille, which is controversial.

According to the brand, the design must evolve with the times to remain competitive against the competition. In an interview with Autocar, Peter Henrich, BMW Product Manager, says that this new design is the best way to go in the future. According to him, BMW customers are happy to accept this change and are demanding cars that stand out from the crowd.

This rebellious design is well suited for the 4 Series, M4 and M3. It is therefore not known whether the future 5 Series will adopt the same style. According to Henrich, each model must have its own character in order to target its customers as effectively as possible. For example, a customer buying an X6 will not be looking for the same thing as a customer buying a Z4.

On the iNext concept, here at the top of the article, the design of the grille of the production model will be changed. The latter will again be split into two parts as on thermal BMWs. However, this grille will be massive, as on the future 4 Series, M4 and M3. The BMW i4 and iX3 will also receive this specific grille. It now remains to wait for the revelation of these vehicles in order to contemplate the result.

  • Are they going to provide the general public with bags to throw up in.

    • As an optional extra obviously. Would you like your bag to be leather?

    • Make mine a plastic one, I'll use it multiple times until it's time to recycle it.

  • Wish that all of our enthusiast views on these ugly grills be heard and the grills be replaced. The defining feature of a good looking BMW was sometimes the teeny kidney grill. Nowadays, it’s almost a competition to see which company has the biggest grills

  • Everyone is getting this wrong. BMW is scared of competitors. So they’re designing cars that can swallow other cars.
