I feel that I speak for everyone when I say that this is really awesome! This upcoming year, on May 24th, 2022, BMW will release a heritage edition of the M3, M4, and X5M, which will be the only 3 vehicles featuring that badge. "We have a great year ahead of us, which will be celebrated with unique product highlights and exciting performances," said Franciscus van Meel, chairman of the board of management of BMW M, in a statement. "The M has long been considered the strongest letter in the world, and in our company's anniversary year it is stronger than ever."

The new emblem—inspired by the classic BMW Motorsport logo—will replace the standard blue and white roundel on the vehicle's front and rear and on the wheel hubs. The BMW Motorsport logo surrounds the brand's standard logo with blue, violet, and red semicircle lines. This version was first used in 1973 on BMW Motorsport's racing cars. BMW says the colors represent BMW (blue), racing (red), and the way the two are connected (violet).

And yes, if you are also wondering, they will be releasing a CSL Heritage Edition. (featured on the cover) BMW said that they will reintroduce exterior paint options that they call "50 iconic and historically significant BMW M paint finishes." This title includes the colors Dakar Yellow, Fire Orange, Daytona Violet, Macao Blue, Imola Red, and Frozen Marina Bay Blue. These paints will be offered on some new vehicles next year, including the M3 Touring, and the M4 Coupe Series.

BMW will also introduce a successor to the M2, which will mark the launch of the "First electrified high-performance model in the history of BMW M GmbH."

  • I'm very disappointed. An electrified M2 is horrid news, none of BMWs fugly line up is even close to being worthy of the CSL name and a funky badge on their ugliest cars is hardly exciting. I would be excited about the M3 Touring but that'll look disgusting too. BMW really have gone down in my estimation over the last few years and this has worsened the effect.

    • I feel the same way. that last year that I was able to enjoy BMW's cars was in 2018, right before everything was announced.

    • For me it’s 2019. That’s the last of all the generations for pretty much every manufacturer. The new era should itself in 2019 as well as lots of cars ending the production line. The F80 M3 as an example. Audi was on the move to reveal the...

    • Me too! I honestly just want to find one of the badges to have, because they are really pleasant to look at. The design is super pretty.
