BMW makes chain maintenance a thing of the past
The boffins at BMW Motorrad have changed the game
If you ride a motorcycle, looking after your chain can be one of the biggest headaches, especially when riding all year. Having to prop the bike up on a paddock stand is the only proper way to clean and lubricate your chain.
Not anymore! BMW has invented the 'M Endurance Chain' which they say requires zero maintenance.
The use of tetrahedrally amorphous carbon (similar to diamond nitride you see in front forks) has been used on the rollers and other parts of what looks like your normal X-Ring chain. Currently available in 525 section for the S1000RR, it's a £100 option when buying new, or it can be retrofitted. If it does what BMW says, then it'll be worth every penny to keep chain grease and filth at bay.
