BMW sacks off the M4 Gran Coupe, says 'M' boss
It just doesn't look like there's a market for it with the new M3
Since the announcement of the new BMW M4 and M3, there has been no news regarding the M4 Gran Coupe which is the four-door variant of the two-door sporty version of a four-door saloon...if that makes any sense.
However BMW M project manager Robert Pilsl said, "We'll stick with the well-known core models for the time being, then go one better with the Touring and believe overall that we are offering a very good mix," he said. "We don't see the need for an M4 Gran Coupe at the moment."
It makes sense to sack off the M4 Gran Coupe, mostly because its M3 is such a capable and historicaly important sporty four-door, that there really is no need for an M4 version.
If you are sad by this news, then look on the bright side. BMW now has more time and resources to focus on the M4 in its upcoming 'touring' form and don't forget, BMW is also working on the i4 which is an all-electric 4 Series with 'M' like capabilities.
